you don’t have to just put it in the notes!! very cool under-utilized feature
This is an underutilized feature of AO3, and a great way to credit the work you might be taking inspiration from.
It’s also useful because it will link your work on the work it’s inspired by! A little section pops up to say “Works inspired by this one:” and a hyperlink at the bottom of the original fic.*
And then anyone who finds the fic that inspired you will have the option to read your fic too and anyone reading your fic has the chance to go read the fic you loved so much you had to write about it! Everyone wins!
*The author does have to approve that link, it doesn’t just pop up on it’s own, but in my experience as someone who enjoys gifting fic it’s usually well received.
PLEASE use this feature! Its so cool! And it is a great way to drice traffic to both the original and inspired by work since it automatically provides a direct link. You can also connect translations! Which is amazing! This is a super great feature on ao3!

“Take this.” Tech turned to Captain Rex and pressed the camera into his hands, which were free now that Fives had reclaimed his own weapons belt and helmet. “Link it with a data pad and record whatever unfolds with Krell. We will need all the evidence of his treasonous actions we can get.”
Captain Rex nodded in acknowledgement. He curled his solemn fingers around the offered camera and didn’t hesitate to clip it to his helmet. Captain Rex reached to rest a hand on his shoulder, but seemed to think better of it when Echo let out a warning growl and started to take a step closer.
Tech glanced at Echo and then at the captain.
“Good luck.”
“Keep safe, Tech.” Captain Rex tossed his own glance at Echo and then levelled an inscrutable look at Tech. “For all our sakes. Bad enough I’ll have to explain what happened to Waxer when I see Boil.”
“Why,” Fives blurted in surprise, flicking his attention between Captain Rex and Tech in rapid succession. “What happened to Waxer?”
“Not now, Fives. We need to get moving.”
Captain Rex turned on his heel and marched for the turbolift. He didn’t check to see whether the troopers were following him – the expectation of their obedience was in his voice, in the breadth of his shoulders. It seemed Captain Rex never had to issue an order twice.

When you see the news about all of the heinous Supreme Court decisions that were just made please remember that every single one is a direct result of the fact that Donald Trump was the president from 2016-2020 and Hillary Clinton was not. And there are two conservative justices who will likely retire as soon as a second Trump term begins so he can appoint younger people and enshrine conservatism on the court for another 50+ years. So. Please vote. It will at least give us a fighting chance to get our rights back sooner
